Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the 'One Nation, One Election' bill in the Lok Sabha. The bill, which was approved by the Union Cabinet on December 12, has faced strong opposition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described it as a significant step for India's democracy.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tiwari and Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav spoke out against the One Nation One Election Bill. Yadav criticised the BJP, questioning how they could propose simultaneous elections across the entire country when they have struggled to hold assembly elections in just eight states at the same time.

The listed agenda of Lok Sabha as the Houses meet for the 20th day of the session on Tuesday includes the Constitution Amendment Bill concerning simultaneous elections.

The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill will be introduced by Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal.

Meghwal is also likely to introduce a bill to amend the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963; the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991; and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. This bill seeks to align elections for assemblies in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Puducherry for purposes of simultaneous elections.

The winter session of Parliament commenced on November 25 and will go on till December 20.
